The U.S. mixed 4x400-meter relay team has broken a world record at the Paris Olympics. The American quartet won their heat on Friday with a time of 3:07.41 – beating the previous world record of 3:08.80, set by the U.S. team at the 2023 world championships in Budapest. “I didn’t think we was going to do that today,” says the team’s Bryce Deadmon. None of the other teams on Friday managed to finish under 3 minutes, 10 seconds. The record-breaking feat means the U.S. will enter Saturday’s mixed 4x400-meter competition as a heavy favorite to take the gold.
